The Weekend in Campaigning

The Elections So Far

On Thursday evening, a complaint was made to the Returning Officer that the #BackinStudents team had begun postering early in the MBC, after a tweet was posted with a picture.

The Returning Officer found these allegations to be true, and imposed the sanctions of confiscating an A0 poster from the team, as well as banning the ticket from campaigning for a period of 30 minutes on Friday.

On Friday, QUB Fit Feed 2012 – A Facebook group that accepts descriptions of ‘fit’ people in the library via private message and then reposts them –  anonymously published an endorsement of the Student Action ticket, which was quickly responded to on Student Action’s  Facebook page saying, “Thanks, but no thanks”

Stormont’s finest have been getting involved in the QUB Elections too, with Basil McCrea

wishing Paul Walsh good luck on Facebook.

The Law Soc used some smart PR tactics by hijacking the #BackinStudents hashtag on Twitter to promote the Law Soc formal.
