Winter is just around the corner and so are the dark nights, gingerbread lattes and of course the cosy clothes! This autumn/winter season is mainly focused on neutrals and textures, with favourites amongst the shops being faux fur jackets, teddy and cocoon coats. The camel teddy coat is a particularly gorgeous option for you winter lovers, as it is probably the cosiest option, yet right on trend with its overly large collars, long line shape and fabulously wool rich textures. (A wide range of teddy coats in all colours can be found on the website ASOS, where you can also make the most of a generous student discount). Another winner is of course the timeless (faux) fur coat… this wardrobe staple is perfect as an everyday item, or even as evening wear; instantly lending a bit of ‘oomph’ to your outfit. However, you do need to be careful that the rest of your outfit is quite toned down as too many colours or textures going on will only draw attention away from your fabulous coat. So that’s the coats done… what next? The general consensus this season seems to be that winter is a time for statement coats paired with warm colours and close-fitting trousers and jumpers. If you can, try to get your hands on soft knit jumpers with high necks, in colours from aubergine and burgundy, to grey and black.(These are available from around £10 from high street brands such as New Look and H&M). This key simplicity in colours and fabric will accentuate your coat perfectly, yet also flatter your body shape. Another firm favourite carried over from last year, are the gorgeous knee-high boots in suede and leather, or the ever reliable Chelsea boots. By sticking to these form-fitting favourites, you are ensured to look sleek and stylish.
Finishing touches? This is where you can have a bit of fun and add a pop of colour to your outfit! A great option is the classic beanie hat that comes in a variety of traditional winter colours, yet with the fun twist of a brightly coloured pom-pom sewn to the top! These gorgeous hats come in all shades of colour, with popular favourites being pink and blue hues.
