It’s summer, and you know what that means…Q-CON is happening in QUBSU this weekend! And it’s also celebrating its 25th Birthday! The convention will be hosting a whole cornucopia of events this weekend in several buildings on campus. The convention has always been held in the SU, and this year is promising to be bigger and better than ever as it says goodbye to its home for the past 25 years.
As usual, Q-CON will be held over three days (22nd-24th June) and registration opens today at 12pm, and Q-CON closes at 7.30pm on Sunday. There are loads of gaming and anime events happening over the three days, and here are just a few!
Q-CONCERT @Q-CON XXV:
Listen to LIVE videogame music from the award winning IVGO, on Friday and Saturday at 7PM in the Elmwood Hall. Tickets cost £2 from registration.
DOOM creator, John Romero is guesting this weekend, and there will be plenty of laughs with comedy gigs from Colin Murphy, Alison Spittle and Abandonman.
Interested in local indie games and game developers? Q-CON has teamed up with Games NI to showcase great local games developers such as Whitepot Studios, Billygoat Entertainment and Outsider Games! Games NI will be on the scene themselves if any budding games developers want to talk or get advice.
Q-CON this year is screening six films in Mandela Hall over the weekend, and has collaborated with the QFT this year to screen another three films in the QFT itself! In Mandela Hall, a mixture of old and new classics will be screened including The Incredibles, Thor Ragnarok, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and more! In the QFT, cult classics Tron, Perfect Blue and The Shape of Water will be screened over Saturday and Sunday.
Along with these, Q-CON is also hosting an array of Gaming events: boardgames, CCG’s, LARP, RPG’s, consoles and wargames, Cosplay events (including Cosplay Blind Date and a Cosplay Talent show), Artists Alley and Traders, and much, much more!
