Blackwell’s launch their relocated store at 42 University Road!

Crisp paperback novels, red wine and dreamy live music: the baptism of the new Blackwell’s Bookshop. Moving from the Queen’s Students Union, Blackwell’s have relocated to their new store at 42 University Road, turning a derelict Georgian townhouse into a reader’s paradise.

Their new store is kitted out with student essentials, such as module bundles from the English literature reading lists, stationery and Irish literature for those coming to Belfast to study from elsewhere.

Speeches were given by Will Williams (Head of Academic Sales), Áine Feeney (Shop Manager) and David Prescott (Blackwell’s Chief Executive). The shop was launched and toasted by award winning Belfast playwright and author, Paul McVeigh (author of The Good Son) who gave a heartwarming speech about the power of reading to the marginalised and representing the people of Belfast in the literary world.

Shop manager, Áine Feeney notes in their press release: ‘We have many years of bookselling expertise and customer service from our experience with students and academic staff. It’s really exciting that we can now extend this to a much wider audience in a brand new High street bookshop”.

The new store hopes to expand to the second floor in the future to extend their range of books even further. All students, particularly literature students who are finished assignments, get down to the new Blackwell’s Bookshop and get your summer reads!
